Happy first day of spring to everyone! I don’t know about you, but we have been patiently waiting for this day for weeks! Winter is fun, but let’s be honest, it’s hard to beat spring and summer when you live in Southern California. The weather is starting to warm up, the sun is shining, and parks and hiking trails have officially reopened!
To celebrate the turning of the season, here are five things you can do with your pup that will make the whole family happy. Before we dive in, we want to remind everyone to make sure that their dogs have a collar with up-to-date tags on them! Also, don’t forget to clean up after your pups!
While the dog beach is fun for both you and your pup, did you know that salty air actually contains negatively charged hydrogen ions which more readily absorb oxygen? Breathing in these ions for a few hours can do wonders to relieve not only your allergies, but your pups, as well! Plus, I mean, who doesn’t love a good sunset walk on the beach?
Get outside! After a cold winter and being indoors, our bodies are craving a little extra Vitamin D! There are so many hiking trails in the area that allow dogs either on or off leash, making it the perfect activity for the entire fam.
Go for a Swim
Anyone else’s dog LOVE the water? We can’t seem to keep ours out of it! Pools, the ocean, puddles, ponds, lakes, the river- nothing is off limits (in their eyes)! Swimming is a great form of exercise for dogs. Did you know that for a dog one minute of swimming equates to four minutes of running!
Camping is a great way spend quality time with your family! No TVs, no screen time, just some good old family fun! Luckily, living in SoCal, we have a wide variety of places to choose from! Whether you’re a beach person, a mountain man, or a glamper, there’s a place for you within a couple of hours from your front door!
Take a Walk Around the Neighborhood
We’ve all been cooped up for quite some time now and with California restrictions beginning to lighten up, getting outside for a walk can be the best way to catch up with neighbors and friends- not just for your sake, but your pups, as well. They missed their friends too!
